Why this?
My wide-ranging practice brings together paintings, sculptures and prints; with a respect and an eye for colour, form and the discipline of making. Thematically it connects with the emotional moments of sudden awareness that we can encounter. It asks, how do memory, longing, mourning, dreaming mesh together to give us a sense of place and self?
I find, day to day, the need to place time and energy into making art work, using a language of observation and reflection to make sense of experience. As small as it is, it is an occupation of slow witness, one that stands counter to man’s capacity for short termism and blindness. It starts a conversation which connects me with others. It does not preclude moral activism, but provides a focus for values to emerge.

Since graduating from the Royal College I have been represented by the Flowers Gallery in London, with ten solo shows in London and Santa Monica between 1995 and 2017, and many group exhibitions. During this period I also worked on collaborative projects with the dance choreographer Athina Vahla and prioritised work as a visiting lecturer, teaching fine art degree students at many UK universities. Now part-time hours as a pluralistic counsellor fills my need for sharing existential conversation, although I enjoy giving the odd lecture or technical workshop. My current focus is to work to commission, with projects like 'monuments to love' and 'this hidden light' allowing me to engage more directly with individuals.
